On 20 July, the Green Rising Camp and Hackathon officially kicked off in Bakuriani, bringing together 30 young people from across Georgia to develop innovative solutions addressing climate change and disaster risk reduction challenges.
The participants were selected from more than 300 applicants through a nationwide call for applications. During the five-day programme, they will take part in interactive training sessions, workshops, team-building activities, and a hackathon focused on developing practical and technology-based solutions for climate resilience.
The camp and hackathon are being implemented within the framework of the project “Empowering Youth for Climate-Resilience and DRR through Education and Tech-Based Solutions”, supported by UNICEF. The initiative aims to equip young people with green skills, strengthen climate literacy, and empower them to become active contributors to sustainable development and resilient communities.
A special highlight of the programme is the participation of two guests, mentors and jury members from KTH, Sweden. Their presence is particularly symbolic, as the project builds on the UPSHIFT model, a Swedish approach to youth innovation and social entrepreneurship that was previously introduced in Georgia through a pilot initiative implemented by BTU and UNICEF. The current project further expands this experience by applying the UPSHIFT methodology to climate resilience, green skills development, and disaster risk reduction.
Throughout the programme, participants will work closely with mentors, trainers, and experts, gaining practical knowledge and developing project ideas that can create a positive impact in their communities. The hackathon will provide an opportunity for teams to transform their ideas into actionable solutions addressing climate-related risks and environmental challenges.
At the end of the programme, teams will present their solutions to a panel of national and international experts and jury members. The most promising ideas will be recognised for their innovation, feasibility, and potential contribution to building more climate-resilient communities.
The Green Rising Camp and Hackathon represent an important step in empowering a new generation of young changemakers, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead climate action and contribute to a greener and more resilient future for Georgia.
ბიზნესისა და ტექნოლოგიების უნივერსიტეტის ორგანიზებით, ა/წ 20 ივლისს, დაბა ბაკურიანში, პროექტის „ახალგაზრდების გაძლიერება კლიმატური მდგრადობისა და კატასტროფების რისკის შემცირებისთვის განათლებისა და ტექნოლოგიებზე დაფუძნებული გადაწყვეტილებების გზით“ ფარგლებში, მწვანე ბანაკი და ჰაკათონი დაიწყო. ხუთდღიანი პროგრამა საქართველოს სხვადასხვა რეგიონიდან შერჩეულ 30 ახალგაზრდას აერთიანებს, რომლებიც კლიმატის ცვლილებებისა და კატასტროფების რისკის შემცირების მიმართულებით ინოვაციურ იდეებსა და პრაქტიკულ გადაწყვეტილებებზე იმუშავებენ.
ბანაკში მონაწილეობის მისაღებად გამოცხადებულ კონკურსზე 300-ზე მეტი განაცხადი შემოვიდა, რომელთა შეფასების შედეგად 30 მონაწილე შეირჩა. პროგრამის ფარგლებში ახალგაზრდები ჩაერთვებიან ტრენინგებში, სამუშაო სესიებში, გუნდურ აქტივობებსა და ჰაკათონში, სადაც მენტორებისა და ექსპერტების მხარდაჭერით კლიმატურ გამოწვევებზე საპასუხო ინიციატივებს განავითარებენ.
პროგრამის განსაკუთრებული ნაწილი შვედეთიდან (სტოკჰოლმის სამეფო ტექნოლოგიური უნივერსიტეტი – KTH) მოწვეული ექსპერტებისა და ჟიურის წევრების ჩართულობაა. მათი მონაწილეობა სიმბოლურ მნიშვნელობას ატარებს, რადგან პროექტი ეფუძნება UPSHIFT-ის მოდელს – ახალგაზრდული ინოვაციებისა და სოციალური მეწარმეობის შვედურ მიდგომას, რომელიც საქართველოში პირველად BTU-სა და UNICEF-ის თანამშრომლობით განხორციელებული საპილოტე ინიციატივის ფარგლებში დაინერგა.
მწვანე ბანაკისა და ჰაკათონის მიზანია ახალგაზრდებში მწვანე უნარების, კლიმატური წიგნიერებისა და ინოვაციური აზროვნების განვითარება, რათა მათ აქტიური როლი შეასრულონ უფრო მდგრადი და კლიმატის მიმართ გამძლე საზოგადოების ჩამოყალიბებაში.
